Cashless access to outpatient treatment

With cashless access on your health insurance policy, we’ll settle your bills for outpatient treatment directly with the clinic when you seek treatment at a clinic in our network.

The information on this page refers to outpatient treatment (e.g. doctor visits, specialist consultations). Please visit our page on claims for inpatient treatment for information on how our health insurance works if you’re admitted to hospital.

What kinds of accidents will I be covered forWhat is cashless access to outpatient treatment?

Cashless access is a feature of your health insurance policy that lets you receive outpatient treatment (e.g. a doctor visit, a specialist consultation) without paying for it from your own pocket. Instead, the clinic where you receive the treatment sends us the bill.

The outpatient treatment you receive must be eligible, meaning the treatment must be covered by your plan and the terms and conditions of your health insurance policy.

When you have cashless access on your policy, we’ll send you a digital membership card that you can present at clinics.

Key takeaways

  1. With cashless access, you won’t have to pay out-of-pocket for eligible outpatient treatment
  2. Cashless access is a standard feature on your health insurance policy if you meet certain criteria
  3. You can receive outpatient treatment at any clinic in your coverage zone, but it’ll be cashless only at clinics in our network
  4. With the cashless access option, we send you a digital membership card to present at clinics
When you receive treatment, you’ll be treated as either an inpatient or an outpatient

How does cashless access to outpatient treatment work?

If you have cashless access on your health insurance policy, follow these steps when you need outpatient treatment:

  1. Check whether your treatment is eligible – Check with us whether your treatment is covered by your plan. Certain treatments need pre-authorisation from us. You can find the full list in the FAQs below.
  2. Find a clinic in our network – Use our online tool to find a clinic in our network.
  3. Present your card – Present your membership card on arrival.
  4. Complete any forms – The clinic will give you part of a form to complete. The clinical staff will compete the rest of the form and return to us.
  5. Pay your excess – If you have an excess, you’ll have to pay that to the clinic. You may have to pay any co-insurance or ineligible expenses.
  6. Clinic sends us your bill – The clinic will send us the bills for your treatment, and we’ll settle directly with the clinic.

Is cashless access to outpatient treatment standard on all policies?

No. Cashless access is only a feature on your health insurance policy if you meet the following criteria:

  • You must have a SilverLite plan, a Silver plan, or a Gold plan
  • You must have a nil excess or a US$50 / £30 / €45 per claim excess
  • Your country of residence must be one of the following countries: Cambodia, China, Hong Kong, Laos, Malaysia, the Maldives, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Turkey, Vietnam.

You can opt out of cashless access. Please just let us know when you apply for your health insurance policy. Equally, you don’t have to use the cashless service when you receive outpatient treatment.

If you don’t meet the above criteria, then you don’t have cashless access. Rather, you’ll need to pay the bill for your outpatient treatment and claim back your expenses from us later.
