International group health insurance is a private health insurance policy that provides medical coverage for businesses with expat employees, remote teams, or globally mobile staff. Also known as International Private Medical Insurance (IPMI) or International Company Health Insurance, it ensures employees can access high-quality healthcare worldwide, covering routine care, specialist treatment, hospital stays, and emergencies. Unlike local or domestic health insurance policies, group health insurance with international coverage offers flexibility, financial protection, and helps attract and retain top talent by supporting employee well-being across multiple locations.
Providing a benefits package for your employees shows that you’re serious about the values and culture of your organisation. Employee health cover with William Russell can support and engage your team with:
Your employees will benefit from international health insurance that covers private medical treatment—including doctor visits, consultations, and well-being care. We can also provide cover for pregnancy and childbirth, dental care, and optional extras such as personal accident insurance cover.
Your employees are covered internationally for life, work, and travel abroad. They can choose any doctor or clinic within their coverage zone, and our 24/7 emergency helpline provides medical evacuation for life or limb-threatening conditions if local treatment isn’t available.
Your employees will have complementary access to our travel safety smartphone app—Solace Secure—that alerts them to dangerous situations that are in their proximity, such as civil unrest, natural disasters and security incidents.
All our international group health insurance plans include the following essential benefits.
If one of your employees are admitted to a hospital for eligible treatment, we’ll cover them for:
We don’t place any such restrictions on where employees receive medical treatment. This means they’ll always have access to the top-rated hospitals and medical clinics within your selected coverage zone.
Cancer can affect people anywhere, at any time. So no matter which health plan you select for your employees, we’re committed to providing the strongest benefits to give them the best chance of overcoming cancer.
When employees need eligible treatment for cancer, we’ll cover them for:
We’ll also cover them for cancer genome testing, which sequences the genes of your cancerous cells to help determine the best course of treatment.
Finally, cancer is a condition that patients must often learn to live with. So we also provide benefits for wigs following chemotherapy, counselling with a psychologist, and consultations with a dietitian.
Health insurance isn’t just for serious health issues. What about when your international employees just want to pop to the local doctor’s surgery or the pharmacy? All our plans* include cover for outpatient treatment (i.e. medical treatment for which you don’t need to be admitted to hospital), including:
*With the Bronze plan, employees are only eligible for outpatient cover following discharge from hospital for inpatient treatment.
If one of your global workforce has a life or limb-threatening medical condition and the treatment they urgently need isn’t available locally, we’ll evacuate them by road, sea or air to the nearest location within their coverage zone to ensure they get the medical treatment they need.
All of our health plans also include the following additional ‘expat’ benefits:
Cashless access is an arrangement by which we settle your employees’ bills for outpatient treatment directly with their hospital or treating doctor.
This means they won’t be left out-of-pocket for their treatment, and they won’t have to submit a claim to us. Cashless access is also known as ‘direct billing’ or ‘fast-track-payment’.
Cashless access to outpatient treatment is free on SilverLite, Silver and Gold plans to members in certain countries and available at certain clinics throughout Asia including Hong Kong and China.
Once you’ve picked the health plan that best suits your expat employees, you can tailor their insurance cover further with optional benefits. Choose from:
Select the annual sublimit for your employee’s outpatient treatment on the SilverLite plan. Your employees have US$5,000 cover as standard, but you can extend up to US$10,000. Extending the annual limit also increases your employees’ cover for primary medical care.
With optical care, your employees have cover for an annual optical test and for lenses, frames and contact lenses upon change of a prescription.
You can add cover for routine dental care and complex dental care with our two options: Dental Basic and Dental Plus. Cover provided by Dental Basic includes screening, polishing, and simple extractions, while Dental Plus includes dentures, crowns, and implants.
On the SilverLite and Silver plans, you can add cover for routine maternity care. This gives your employees US$5,000 cover per pregnancy on the SilverLite plan. On the Silver plan, there are options for cover up to US$15,000 per pregnancy—you can also add cover for complex maternity costs for your employees, such as complications of childbirth, complications of pregnancy affecting the mother, and treatment for congenital conditions.
With an optional personal accident plan, we pay your employees a cash lump-sum benefit if an accident results in their death, loss of sight, loss of limb or your permanent and total disablement within 2 years of the accident. Premiums for a personal accident benefit of US$75,000 start at US$9.45 per member, per month.
Medical evacuation comes as standard on all our health plans, but with Medevac Plus, your employees can request repatriation to their country of nationality (if within their coverage zone) or their country of residence following their eligible evacuation. The circumstances under which we evacuate employees are also extended to include advanced diagnostics and cancer treatment that cannot be provided locally.
Our international group health insurance policies give your employees international cover. This ensures your employees get access to the best quality private healthcare—no matter where they are in the world.
With international group health insurance, you can protect the health of your employees while also showing a commitment to supporting their lives and lifestyles overseas.

Your business must have at least 3 eligible employees to qualify for a group health insurance policy.
Yes. You can include spouses and partners and children of employees.
If your policy has 3-9 employees, the policy’s underwriting type will be full medical underwriting. This means employees will have to complete a medical questionnaire before your policy starts. We won’t cover your employees pre-existing medical conditions and related conditions, unless they tell us about them in the medical questionnaire and we agree to cover them.
If your policy has 10+ employees, you can apply for a policy with the underwriting type known as medical history disregarded. With this underwriting type, your policy will cover employees for pre-existing medical conditions (including chronic conditions).
We can provide group health insurance policies to businesses not registered in a restricted country and provided 50% of your employees are expats (i.e., living in a country that’s different to their country of nationality) or are acceptable local nationals.
The cost of group health insurance depends on how many employees you wish to insure, their age, how much cover you require, and where your employees live. Speak to us to get an indicative quote tailored to your needs and requirements.
