William Cooper is the Marketing Director at William Russell, a role he has filled since 2019. In a nutshell, his day to day role involves running the marketing team. The vision is to create an information universe that aims to help people navigate expat life.

William Russell is a family-owned business, and—as a member of the family—William has been involved in the company since he was born. The company’s first office was his nursery. The company is even partially named after him. (Or, as he’s always feared, he is partially named after the company…)

William Russell is, naturally, William’s first job in insurance. He did spend some time interning at a Lloyd’s brokerage in the City of London. He also has experience working for e-commerce start-ups in London and Paris. It was in these jobs that William learned marketing skills from graduate entrepreneurs of the celebrated European business schools. William even had a stint in the art and fashion world, working for fine artists and producers. Here, he learned the importance of marketing. As one artist said to him, “[art] is 15% talent and 85% self-promotion”.

Alongside his professional experience, William holds a Master of Philosophy from Jesus College, Cambridge, where he read Intellectual History & Political Thought. He also holds Prince2 project management qualifications.

William’s main professional interests are content marketing, SEO, user experience, and customer experience.

William has been featured in various publications including The Telegraph, The Times, FT Advisor, Health & Protection, and ITIJ.
