Domestic life insurance policies typically cover you only while you’re permanently resident in the country where you purchased the policy. That’s usually your country of nationality or another country where you’re living permanently. With international life insurance, your cover is not tied to a particular country or region. You’ll have cover all around the world. International life insurance can be a useful solution for people who live and work abroad, but who want an insurance product from a western insurance provider. It can also be a useful solution for people who travel frequently or live between two or more countries.
With William Russell, there are a few restrictions on your international cover. You don’t have cover if die in the following circumstances:
Your life insurance policy gives you no cover in Iran, Libya, North Korea, South Sudan, Syria, Yemen, or any country or region where the UK FCDO has advised its citizens to leave.
Normally, we only provide insurance to expats (i.e., people living and working outside of their country of nationality). But there are a few exceptions.
You can buy our insurance policies if you’re an expat, a digital nomad or someone who spends at least 6 months of the year overseas. In certain countries, we can provide insurance to non-expats who are permanently resident in their country of nationality.
Yes, you can delay the start of your policy—but not indefinitely.
